Now Playing: Pink Floyd / Meddle

I could think of no better way for me to rememeber 9/11 than to be at a baseball game. Last night me, my two friends and one their fathers went to see the AZ Diamondbacks v. The Washington Nationals. I think I may turn this into a 9/11 tradition.

Now Playing: Lynyryd Skynyrd / Platinum & Gold

September 11th, 2006 - Five years after the towers. Where were you five years ago when you heard about The World Trade Center?

I was driving in from Phoenix (to Tempe) and as I passed the freeway signs for Sky Harbor Inernational Airport - the signs read AIRPORT CLOSED. The first thing I thought of was that there was a plane crash here in Phoenix. I couldn't see any smoke or hear any sirens or anything that told me there was something terribly wrong. I flipped on the radio in the car and Howard Stern was delivering the news. I believe the first tower had gone down.

What a shock. I couldn't comprehend just how huge this was - but I knew it was big. Sounds silly to say but nevertheless true.

People banded together and helped eachother. People had new found respect for EMS, Police & Fire Departments. Search, Rescue and Recovery Operations went on around the clock for months.

Growing up in NJ the towers were a part of my daily day. From the town I lived in they could be seen ini the distance. They were gone and never to be seen again.

People who I went to school with died that day. A friend from school's future wife (also a high school friend of mine) was walking out of Tower 1 as it got hit.

I flew home for my Sister's wedding on the first available flight out when the airports re-opened. It was scary, no doubt. I didn't go into Manhatten on that trip but I took photos of other parts of the city.

I know I'll Never Forget The Towers.

Now Playing: The Detroit Cobras / Love, Life & Leaving

Made it through another week. Itchy and Scratchy are taking off early so I have secured an early tee-time for this afternoon. It will be my return to the golf course after a month lay off. I am definately looking forward to it.

The A/C is working and working gloriously. It is so nice to be back home. Although I am reminded of future projects that I need to start, it is still very nice.

Now Playing: Bad Brains / Bad Brains

I think I heard on the news the caught "The Baseline Killer" - Phoenix's very own serial killer. They caught him in a neighborhood that I am around often for work. Funny thing is I don't think people where really ever terrified of this guy. I mean he's a killer, so he is scary and all but that really never stopped people from doing things.

Update: Car battery dead again - A/C still not fixed but he is on his way (again.) I think our repair guy just flat out lies to everyone and get's there whenevevr he can not when he told you. I understand -it's summer, it's AZ, it's hot - A/C units break - I am not the only one who's unit is down but I am the only one I care about so please tell me the freakin' truth. Bastard.

Now Playing: Jay-Z / The Blueprint

I'm getting an early start this morning. Stayed at the in-laws last night since the AC won't be fixed until this morning - no big deal. An evening at home with some quiet with just us in the house sounds really nice right now.

I don't know what to say this morning - since I have written about seven sentences only to delete them.

In life you win some, you lose some and some you tie. I just want to make sure I win the ties and tip the scales of life in my favor. I think that's why I get in early. I try to get a head start on everyone around me. I know my competitors are in bed right now - but being here early so I can be alert, awake and ready to go by 8A is a way I can win some of the ties.

Now Playing: Pink Floyd / Animals

Back from four sun filled days on the Mexican beach in Puerto Penasco only to have reality set in quickly.

The worst thing to happen to you (or your house) in Arizona is for the A/C to stop working. We came home and it was 95 outside and 98 inside. Welcome back. [Update: just got the runaround on the phone from the guy who perpetually fixes the A/C unit. He's pretty scheduled but will try to get there today.]

Did I mention my battery was dead in my car this morning (luckily after I made it to work.)

Oh well - Reality. Anyway, Mexico was fun. It was probably the best vacation I have had in a real long time.

Now Playing: John Coletrane / Giant Steps

I have been running at such a frantic pace that now that I have slowed down a little I have realized I am exhausted.

This trip couldn't have come at a better time.

This is the first time I really do not have anything planned. Usually when we go on vacation it involves going here, or having to see this, or we have to eat here - but not this time. I do not care if we don't leave the house. (The front yard of the house is the beach that leads to the Gulf of Mexico.) Vaya con dios.
